My Lola and I is the story of Kiko, a five-year old boy who spends his summer vacation with his Lola (Filipino for grandmother) Beth, in a small village four hours south of Manila.  An accident catapults them deep into the forest. What happens next changes him into a respectful, nature-loving boy.

This story had been brewing in my mind for a long while.  The setting and characters were all plucked from memories of my childhood and inspired by my love of fairy tales.  I painted the book cover and illustrations which was a big challenge to do.  In the end, my drawing style did not have to change to fit the story.
