People often ask what moves me to create such portraits of desperation.  Yes, we have had our share of tragedies in the family and see suffering all around us everyday.  Yet, it isn't just that which I want to highlight in these paintings, but also the inner strength and tenacity these "women of suffering" possess to keep trudging on to face life's ups and downs.
