Buy prints of original art

The holidays are gone, but if you’re still in the market for art and don’t want to spend on original paintings, try buying prints. They are an inexpensive way of owning art.  Prints of my paintings are available upon request. Just specify the dimensions (just standard sizes, please) and I’ll get back to you with the price. It’s the holiday season! Buy prints as gifts!

I just got back from a family and friends reunion in NJ. We had fun reminiscing while feasting on good food and wine. It was great to reconnect with old friends and be with my family.

I have certainly slowed down on the painting front, because I have no wall space left to accommodate new art work. I have recently donated three paintings to the Maryland Federation of Art and given some prints as gifts. My art sales move at a glacial pace, thanks to my lack of salesmanship. At any event, I enjoyed creating every painting I’ve made and selling is an added bonus.

If you’re not in the market for original paintings, try buying prints. Prints of my paintings are available upon request. Just specify the dimensions (just standard sizes, please) and I’ll get back to you with the price. Please contact me at: paintingsbycynthia@gmail.com

Back to painting!

I’ve been away a long time.  During my trips, I took lots of photos, mostly of scenery in New Zealand.  Above is a shot of Mt. Cook taken on a rare sunny afternoon.

I can understand why they made The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings in New Zealand.  It is a wild and beautiful country.  I look forward to painting those glorious landscapes.

A poem – The Mirror

Dedicated to all women of a certain age:

The Stare

The Stare

The woman sadly turns to the mirror
eyeing the deep lines that etch her face and neck
Her eyes travel down the jiggly fat under her arms
and the bulges around her waist and stomach
With a deep sigh she mutters, “who cares?
I am old and alone in my sorrows.”

Dejected, she bends down, searches her mind
Tears flowed through the ridges on her face
Slowly, she raises her head in defiance
and shouts, “I care!”

She gets up, gets dressed up,
Puts on lipstick, eyeliner,
a bit of eyeshadow and some powder,
Wears pearls around her neck
And the transformation began.
“Yes”, she says, “I care!”
